The 2022 Frieze Artist Award winner will join Grow FM for a talk and conversation about his most recent collaborative project, sonic support group.

The project is a joint collaboration between Neurofringe – a group of Neurologists and London based artist Abbas Zahedi. With the intention to highlight the essential capacity for care that is present in both medicine and art. Sonic Support Group aims to become a catalyst towards reimagining what it means to support one another in ongoing times of need. Through Zahedi’s solo exhibition, ‘Ouranophobia SW3’, December 2020, at an old Chelsea Sorting Office, a semi-derelict warehouse across the road from Royal Brompton Hospital in west London. Zahedi and his collaborators worked together to gran NHS staff and other public-sector workers special access to the show upon referral. Releasing the work’s innate therapeutic potential to individuals in need of a retreat from their day-to-day efforts aiding the public, which were ultimately increasing their own vulnerability.

A former medic, Zahedi combines sculpture, sound and performance to create immersive installations designed to have a therapeutic effect.
