Event Details

FREE EVENT – all materials are supplied.

Drop-in workshops throughout the day with textile artist Tanvi Kant, inspired by the embroidery techniques of Kantha and Phulkari. Both techniques are practiced across the sub-continent and neighbouring countries by multiple communities of faith.

The workshop will have three levels of access from complete beginner, to those with some needlework experience and for those with more advanced skills. Templates will be available that explore the motifs, colours and stitches for each form of embroidery.

The experienced embroiderer can freestyle and simply begin stitching as they please.

Many people have not embroidered since their school days so this workshop aims to trigger those memories with inspiring colours, materials and reference materials – colour printed images of traditional textiles and samples made by the artist.

(Sunday) 12:01 pm - 4:00 pm
