Great places to experience live music in Hounslow borough

After nearly two years of uncertainty surrounding live music due to Covid, our local live music venues are welcoming back audiences through their doors once again. So, the next free evening you’ve got nothing to do, why not check out one of these top venues suggested by the Hounslow Musicians’ Network (HMN) and support the local music scene. Maybe one day you’ll be able to tell your friends you were there when a future star was just starting their musical journey in Hounslow!

The Cross Lances – Hanworth Road, Hounslow

The Cross Lances is a traditional 19th-century pub situated on the corner of Cross Lances Road and Hanworth Road. Visitors are welcomed to a mix of traditional and modern decor with a roomy public bar and split level saloon lounge. Live music events are usually held at the pub on Fridays and Saturdays with a mixture of popular rock bands and acoustic solos and duos. 

Acclaimed singer/songwriter/guitarist, Elaine Samuels, hosts a fun, welcoming Open Mic here, on the third Sunday of the month, from 7pm. As well as regular returning acts, they are always on the lookout for new talent. Sample some fantastic Fuller’s beer, or a pint of Gales, whilst enjoying some great music.

The Red Lion – Linkfield Road, Isleworth

Listen to live music at the tremendous Red Lion pub with its enticing historic interior and two bars. Enthusiastic guitarists can come down in the middle of the week to join the Wednesday night midweek jam with other acoustic guitarists.

Why not grab a glass of Sharp’s Doom Bar and enjoy a fine dish whilst listening to great tunes from different artists.

Victoria Tavern – Worple Road, Isleworth

The Victoria Tavern is a traditional, privately owned pub where live music events are usually held on Sundays, featuring a vast range of solo artists and bands. The tavern is always on the lookout for artists and bands to perform there, so get in touch with them if you are a local musician looking for a new performance venue.

The Brewery Tap – Catherine Wheel Road, Brentford

The Brewery Tap is a cosy, dog and family-friendly pub with a riverside location just off Brentford High Street. Offering a varied live music schedule – promising much-loved bands and artistes several nights a week – you can enjoy everything from jazz, rock, folk and soul to Irish music and more!

Live performances usually take place from 8pm when, as well as enjoying the music, you can try their  great selection of drinks, and delicious award-winning Santa Maria pizzas served straight to your table.
Bookings are not required but are recommended.

Magpie and Crown – High Street, Brentford

The Magpie and Crown pub hosts live music four nights a week with jam nights taking place on Tuesdays and Sundays and dedicated bands and solo artists performing on Fridays and Saturdays. Ska and reggae nights are also held on occasions during the week and, during the summer months, musical events are held in the garden.

The pub is keen to host even more musical events with local musicians who are interested in getting involved.

Musical Museum – High Street, Brentford

The Musical Museum is not just a museum but a place to enjoy live music performances too. The purpose-built venue has three galleries and a concert hall containing a Mighty Wurlitzer theatre organ, where visitors can attend live musical events that take place throughout the year. 

The concert hall is also available to hire for passionate musicians who are seeking a unique performance venue.

The Steam Packet – Strand-On-The-Green, Chiswick

Make your way down to The Steam Packet, right on the riverside near to Kew Bridge, every Friday from 7pm for great live music in their traditional downstairs bar. The fantastic lineup of performers regularly changes, with everything from 3 piece bands to solo acts playing an acoustic mix from covers, pop and indie, to rock and roll, jazz and swing – guaranteed to have your toe tapping and put a smile on your face! As these nights are very popular, bookings are advised.

George IV – High Road, Chiswick

Wednesday nights at the Fuller’s George IV pub are always popular with music-lovers who enjoy free live music. The Chiswick-based pub has a regular open mic every Wednesday from 8pm in the main bar. They also host acoustic artists every Friday and Saturday nights from 9pm. In addition, on some Thursday evenings, there are ticketed performances from some of the best master musicians.

Hanworth Royal Naval Association Club – Park Road, Hanworth

The Hanworth Naval Association Club is a community venue that is used for many community activities including live music events. If you’re an eager musician who is looking for a place to hold a music event, the Hanworth Royal Naval Association Club is a great space to use. There is a bar available and useful equipment for events.
