This summer, Hounslow will come to life with the borough’s first ever Summer of Culture programme, showcasing the very best in performance, sport, culture and live events.
There will be something on offer for everyone, in every part of the borough, with many free events.
Summer of Culture bunting bank
As part of the celebrations we want you to get involved and help create miles of bunting to decorate our streets and events.
To take part you can download and print the template with instructions below. Alternatively, collect from your local library to create flags at home.
Completed flags can be dropped off at your local library. We want to collect as many flags as possible by 26 May so we can make some packs ahead of events starting in early June. However, the project will continue throughout June and July.
Summer of Culture is being hosted by Hounslow Council in partnership with local cultural providers, community organisations, businesses and our residents. Bunting will be given to community groups and event organisers to decorate areas where they are hosting events.
Brentford and Isleworth libraries will also be hosting bunting-making workshops. No particular expertise is required, materials will be provided and where possible we would like to reuse scrap material. So please bring with you some old, clean fabric such as old pillowcases, shirts or sheets if you have some.
There is no need to book onto the workshops. Simply come along to Brentford Library from 10am to 5pm on 24 May or Isleworth Library from 10am to midday on Saturday, 4 June.
The Summer of Culture launches in June. Visit the Summer of Culture section of the website to find out more as the programme develops. Don’t forget to follow our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram social media channels for the latest updates.
