Hounslow’s Summer of Culture 2022

In June 2022, Hounslow came to life with a summer-long programme that showcased the very best in performance, sport, culture and live events that the borough has to offer.

Local communities, businesses and cultural providers all worked together in partnership with the Council to deliver the borough’s first ever Summer of Culture, to celebrate all of Hounslow’s unique places, spaces and local people.

Throughout the summer, local, national and international artists delivered a breath-taking programme of events, with everyone encouraged to get involved, meet new people and try something new. The Summer of Culture launched with celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, with events taking place all summer long, with something on offer to suit everyone.

Summer of Culture 2022 was an overwhelming success, showcasing a vibrant array of cultural experiences. With a staggering 180 events, exhibitions and performances, attendees had ample opportunities to immerse themselves in art, music, theatre, community events, and more.

The festival embraced the entire community with 30 venues participating across the borough, ensuring accessibility and engagement for all. A testament to its popularity, the festival drew in an impressive audience of 128,000 attendees, highlighting the widespread enthusiasm and support for cultural initiatives within the community. Additionally, the festival demonstrated its commitment to nurturing local talent and creativity, with 41 grantees receiving support through the Summer of Culture grant. Overall, the festival not only celebrated the rich diversity of cultural expression but also fostered a sense of community pride and unity throughout Hounslow.
